About the General Medicine/MBBS

European School of Medicine’s aim is to prepare high-level specialists capable of solving problems and conducting research related to public health, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Our program of studying General Medicine/MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) was formed for proper and effective training of specialists in the field of medicine, for their professional development. Our lecturers use theoretical and practical pieces of training and principles of science-based medical practice in the healthcare field. We implemented our study of disciplines in English and the language of your choice. Level of Higher Education – First — Doctor of Medicine/Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MD/MBBS) and Second (Master, Doctorate, Clinical Residency) level.

The total amount of credits of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System – 360 credits.

Duration of studying – 6 years of full-time studying for Doctor of Medicine/Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MD/MBBS) and 2-3 years of full-time studying (Master, Doctorate, Clinical Residency).

The Educational Process

The program combines both theoretical and practical methods of studying medicine useful for remembering new information and consolidating students’ skills. Students use modern information resources and have access to a digital library, electronic sources, and all necessary multimedia. Our students use one of the most modern Simulation Centers in Poland, for their practical classes. It helps them in developing their professional competencies and skills. Our lecturers have extensive professional experience in training new specialists and use modern methods of teaching to give our students the opportunity to become professionals in their field of science. We collaborate with famous medical institutions in Poland and abroad to gain new knowledge and experience.

           After graduating students are able:
  • To collect data on patient complaints, medical history, and life history, to conduct and evaluate physical examination results;
  • To evaluate diagnosis information using a standard procedure based on laboratory and instrumental research;
  • To highlight a leading clinical symptom or syndrome.
  • To establish the most probable or syndromic diagnosis of a disease;
  • To appoint laboratory or/and instrumental examination of the patient;
  • To carry out differential diagnoses of diseases;
  • To establish a preliminary and clinical diagnosis;
  • To determine the necessary work and rest schedule while treating a disease;
  • To determine the necessary medical nutrition while treating a disease;
  • To determine the principles and nature of treatment (conservative, surgical) of a disease;
  • To determine the tactics of emergency medical care based on the diagnosis of an urgent condition;
  • To provide emergency medical care based on the diagnosis of the urgent condition;
  • To organize holding of medical evacuation among the population and servicemen;
  • To determine the tactics of physiological pregnancy, physiological birth, and the postpartum period;
  • To conduct family planning and contraceptive consultations;
  • To perform medical procedures;
  • To form dispensary groups among the determined segment of the population; groups of healthy people who are subject to dispensary observation.
  • To implement a system of anti-epidemic and prophylactic measures within the framework of primary health care to the population;
  • To organize the holding of the secondary and tertiary prevention events among the population;
  • To plan the events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases;
  • To conduct detection and early diagnostics of infectious diseases; primary anti-epidemic measures in the center of infectious disease;
  • To identify groups at risk, territories of risk, risk time, and risk factors and to carry out epidemiological analysis of infectious diseases of the population;
  • To determine the tactics of examination and secondary prevention of patients that should be under dispensary observation; the tactics of investigation and primary prevention of healthy patients that should be under dispensary observation; to calculate and assign the necessary food to infants;
  • To determine the presence and degree of disability, type, degree, and duration of disability with the registration of relevant documents;
  • To prepare the annual report on personal production activity; to maintain patient and the segment of the population’s medical records;
  • To conduct screen to identify major noncommunicable diseases; evaluate incidence rates and integrated health indicators; identify risk factors for the occurrence and course of diseases; to form groups of the population at risk;
  • To determine the source and the location of the necessary information, depending on the type thereof; to receive necessary information from a specified source; to process and analyze the obtained information;
  • To identify negative environmental factors; analyze the health of a particular segment; determine the connection between the state of an environment and the health of a particular segment; to develop preventive measures based on the relationship between the state of an environment and the health of a particular segment;
  • To carry out the analysis of population morbidity, identifying groups, territories, time, and risk factors;
  • To assess the impact of socio-economic and biological determinants on the health of an individual, family, or population;
  • To identify activity flaws and causes of formation thereof;
  • To select and use unified clinical protocols for the provision of health care, the protocols being developed on the basis of evidence-based medicine; to develop and use local health care delivery protocols;
  • To conduct quality control of health care; to identify factors that impede the quality improvement and safety of medical care;
  • To evaluate the cost of medical services; to justify the choice of the adequate method of financing (payment) and the choice of rational forms of organization of medical services;
  • To apply economic analysis methods while choosing methods of diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation;
  • To organize the work of the medical staff; create rational medical routes for patients; organize the interaction with colleagues, organizations, and institutions; to apply tools for promoting health services;
  • To set goals and define the structure of personal activity;
  • To follow a healthy lifestyle, use self-regulation and self-control techniques;
  • To be aware of civil rights, freedoms, and obligations and be guided by them, to increase general educational level;
  • To follow ethics, bioethics, and deontology requirements in the professional activity;
